The tangled life of Ján Jesenius, a renaissance physician, humanist and politician with a Slovak origin, who was tortured and murdered during the infamous execution of Czech noblemen at the Staroměstské square in Prague. He was known for the first public autopsy in central Europe, he was the personal physician of the emperor Rudolf II. and his successor Matyáš, and he was also the rector of the Charles university. Ultimately he became a victim of the political and war conflicts of his cruel age.
