Try to Embrace Me · 1991
The embrace – a refuge, personal asylum. All characters of this tragicomic narrative yearn for it, but mainly the thirty–year–old sociologist Oskar. His work visits of homes for the elderly deepen his feeling of the loss of vitality and his refusal to father a child. His wife's desire for maternity and his own concern whether he is fertile forces him to confide to his friend – a gynaecologist. The friend recommends hormonal cure and a simple form of therapy – to fulfil his marital duties fully. Only after Oskar becomes heir to a valuable ancient jewel, which he – according to the testament – must not sell, but to give to "a person beloved and close to his heart...", the story gets some unpredictable, grotesque plot–twists.
